Firm admin — Advanced usage
Deeper Admin Console configuration. Treat write access to APIs, modules, and trust as high-impact.
Firm configuration depth
Court rules
Deadline / rule packs for jurisdictions your firm practices in. Keep these aligned with the matters attorneys actually file.
Templates & forms
Document and email templates used across matters. Prefer firm-standard templates so AI and humans start from the same baseline.
Custom fields / Types & fields
Extend matter and contact schemas carefully. Schema churn confuses reporting and portal display — change with a short internal note to the team.
Rate cards
Maintain role- and matter-appropriate rates before month-end billing pressure.
Trust & IOLTA controls
- Trust auto-refill — minimum balances, auto-refill behavior, block disbursement on overdraft when you want hard stops.
- IOLTA reconciliation — bank / register / client-ledger views. If a write fails, contact FamilyCase support rather than trying workarounds.
- Portal see trust balance — only enable when clients should see it.
Connections
| Page | Use |
|---|---|
| Integrations | Connectors your firm has approved |
| API & webhooks | Keys and outbound webhooks — rotate and scope tightly |
Do not share API keys in chat or email. Revoke on staff departure.
Firm-scoped platform settings
Module Settings
Turn capability groups on/off for your firm. Hidden modules disappear from attorney sidebars.
Optional capabilities
Some advanced capabilities can be turned on or off for your firm. Prefer minimal experimentation on a live client matter, and use Audit log to review recent changes.
Security advanced
- Enforce MFA for staff where offered.
- Review sessions after suspected account sharing.
- IP allow-lists only if your firm’s network reality matches (home/remote attorneys may be locked out otherwise).
- SSO (Google/Microsoft) is managed with your identity provider plus FamilyCase security settings.
Audit and export
- Use Audit log after role changes, module changes, and trust configuration changes.
- Data export for counsel-directed or compliance packages — follow your retention policy.
