Firm admin — Tips & tricks
Onboarding without chaos
- Finish Firm info + Team before any client invite.
- Enable one collaboration path first (usually Messages + Evidence upload).
- Add billing/pay and trust visibility in a second pass.
- Give every new attorney the Attorney operating link in their invite email body.
Least privilege
- Not everyone needs firm Admin role.
- Paralegals rarely need Trust Accounting nav.
- Turn off modules you are not ready to support in help tickets.
Trust safety
- Keep block disbursement on overdraft on unless you have a written exception process.
- Do not show trust balances in the portal until bookkeeping can answer client questions the same day.
- Treat IOLTA recon as a scheduled ritual, not an emergency-only screen.
Modules and integrations
- Change one module setting at a time; note why for your team.
- Disable unused webhooks; they are a common source of “mystery” updates.
- After staff leave, rotate API keys they could have seen.
Support deflection
- Point attorneys to the Attorney FAQ before opening a ticket.
- Point clients to the Client FAQ / portal Help.
- For login failures, confirm role (client vs attorney) before assuming an outage.
